Evolution of the Street Festival in Uphams Corner

While Uphams Corner has a tradition of offering an annual street festival in the late summer, planners replaced a decade-long hiatus with its first recent street festival in 2012. 2012 Street Festival and Photos.

Under the leadership of Uphams Corner Main Street, and with planning efforts contributed by residents and nonprofits such as Dorchester Bay, the 2012 street festival was a fun-filled Saturday, engaging businesses and residents, despite the rain.  Designed more as a business outcropping with tables in front of businesses on the sidewalks, the layout provided an opportunity for attendees to get to know businesses in a newer and friendlier way and to greet each other in a spacious format.

Beginning with 2013, planning efforts focused on consolidating the street festival into a location closed to traffic, making it safer for everyone. The 2014 festival adds the additional element of a health festival sponsored by the Uphams Corner Health Center.

This year's weather is expected to be perfect.  The starting time of 11 AM gives everyone an opportunity to build an appetite and enjoy the local food from area restaurants.

So mark your calendards NOW. Saturday, August 16, 2014 11am to 4pm.
