Happy Thanksgiving from Upham's Corner News
November 24, 2011

Happy ThanksgivingThe "Viewing" of the Seasons

It changes every year.   New vines bear fruit and what we see as important reflects what is ripe for picking today.

This year UC News is thankful for an ever growing community of activists in Upham's Corner - people who want the best for our community, who are willing to get involved and for those who want to promote the growth of community.

Residents are Thankful

Last year UC News interviewed many Upham's Corner residents and asked them what they were thankful for.

It was a moving to take a look at who we are - a focus on the people.

Holiday TreePromoting the Holiday Party

This year UC News is teaming up with the Improvement Association and Main Street.

We are promoting the first Holiday Party at the Strand (in many years) in advance of the Tree Lighting on Nov 26.

The Strand Looks Beautiful

Already the community is talking about how beautiful the Strand looks!

Alda Marshall and Linda Buckley of the Mayor's Office of Arts, Tourism and Special Events have been putting their hearts and minds and spirits into decorating the Strand.  As one resident remarked:

"The Strand is looking as beautiful at Holiday time as it must have looked when it first opened 93 years ago.  We here in Upham's Corner are honored to share in its glory."

We are Grateful.  We are Thankful.  We give Thanks to You.
God Bless!

Awarded to John Hosmer - Dollar Stop Plus
November 10, 2011

John Hosmer Awarded On November 10, 2011 the UC Improvement Association issued their first "Golden Broom Award" to John Hosmer, proprietor of Dollar Store Plus at 775 Dudley Street.

For years John has been putting out a trash barrel in front of his business and sweeping the sidewalk daily. What a difference it has made!

He does this quietly, almost without notice.  "Why not help the neighborhood and the business district?  I put out the barrel, bring it in at night.  The front of my business stays clean and everybody is happy."

Rehema Needs a Home
November 16, 2011

Rehema, the Cat, awaits adoption Rehema was Barry Norris' cat and she now awaits adoption into a loving home.  Until then she is staying with Nancy.  Rehema is an older cat (16) but very loving and kittenish.

She's hiding right now behind the organ but comes out when I call her and she loves to be petted.  Slight of build, Rehema is a gray tabby with an adorable face and she proudly wears her white boots.  Rehema comes with cat scratch toys and a carrying box.

3 Things - An Introduction
