Deck the Windows Holiday Reception Dinner at Restaurant Laura

 For
the second year in a row, Uphams Corner Main Street has honored those
local businesses who participated in the Mayor's Deck the Windows
competition that begins immediately following Thanksgiving each
year. For the 2011 holiday season, the celebration took place as
a morning event at Paraiso Restaurant.
For the 2012 season, over 30 Upham’s Corner businesses and residents
attended the 2nd annual Deck the Windows Holiday Reception Wrap-Up
Dinner at Restaurant Laura on Wednesday, January 9th .
A great big thanks to Restaurant Laura for hosting the event.
Also hosted by Uphams Corner Main Street, the event honored all
participating businesses with special attention to the the top 3
winners:
- A&M Bargain Store
- Tran Jewelry
- Nueva Imagen
In addition, other groups were recognized for helping to make the
holidays great in Uphams Corner including the Strand Theater and the
Bird Street Community Center youth, who volunteered to decorate around
Upham’s Corner during the holidays.
Certificates were given to the almost 30 businesses that decorated,
while top 3 winners received framed photos of their decorations during
the holidays. The holidays also highlighted the community’s recent push
to connect the arts with neighborhood revitalization and community building.
Special thanks to Boston Main Streets for organizing the decorating
competition, Restaurant Laura for hosting us, the Strand Theater for a
successful holiday season, and all the UCMS volunteers who helped
organize the dinner and the storefront decorating competition in Upham’s Corner .
