Wheelwright Exhibition Joseph Wheelwright, Uphams Corner sculptor, will have works on display at the Hargate Art Center in Concord, NH,  The exhibition runs from May 6-May 31.  The gallery is open Tue-Sat and the exhibitions are free and open to the public.  Mr. Wheelwright is a principal in the Humphreys Street Studios which many area artists call their (work) home.

The 40 piece retrospective marks an important event in Mr. Wheelwright's career and personal accomplishments.  Three generations of Wheelwrights have attended St. Paul's School in Concord including his father, grandfather and five (count them) siblings.

Twenty years ago, the school commissioned a work in stone which was sited at the pond and which the high school students know very well.  On opening night 5/6/14, the students were thrilled to not only meet the artist who created their nostalgically viewed sculpture but to see so many of his works and to meet another St. Paul's alum.

The Wheelwright Exhibition presents Joe's journey through three phases of sculpture medium
  • bone (animal skulls)
  • stone
  • roots and trees
The three large pieces, located outside, will remain at St. Paul's until the fall.  The photos below show the exhibition at the Hargate Art Center Exhibition and one of the larger pieces outside.
