With over 12" of snow in the Boston area over a two-day period, Uphams
Corner was blanketed in white. At first the snow was wet and
heavy and by Friday, it had changed to a light and fluffy snow that
would not stop falling. The storm hit everyone by surprise
especially Mayor Menino who refused to cancel school.
The
amount of melting snow accumulating especially at the crosswalks made
traveling dangerous and very wet. Snowplows were active
throughout the day and homeowners as well as City employees were busy
shoveling sidewalks and bus stops. The day after is not scheduled
to be a typical hard deep freeze as often occurs a storm but rather
temperatures reaching 40 and in the melting range. Enjoy the
photos which won't melt even when the real snow does.
