Peace Garden for the Winthrop School
Dacia St Walls Greet us with Hope

A couple nights before the major painting work, City Year creates the black and white silouhettes by projecting images on the wall at night.  During the day there is simply too much sunlight to create adequate contrast for sketching.

The gang of youth arrive with their supplies - gallons of paint, rollers, brushes and roller pans.

Then the work begins - stenciling in the quotations, applying designs of paint and moving towards the finished product.

At the bottom of this page, you can see the row of houses on Dacia Street that used to face blank gray walls.  Now they wake up to a block of murals and sayings that brighten their day.

Note:  It is still a work-in-progress.
