With
the parking and driving bans in place, the main thoroughfares were
empty - no vehicles except for emergency. In both directions on
Dudley Street,
only pedestrians and a few bicyclists were out taking advantage of the
improvement in weather.
On the main streets, heavy front end loaders
were clearing the snow while a few businesses
wanted everyone to know they were open: CVS, Brothers Market and
the liquor store.
On what are ordinarily plain brick and stone surfaces, the heavy snow had
settled onto the surfaces and provided a temporary aesthetic makeover
for most of the buildings and homes. Often the best snow
paintings were on the sides of the buildings, fully accessible to the
wind.
Thanks to Joel Jean-Pierre who contributed photos during the height of the storm close to the Strand Theatre.
