Far Reaches (October 10-26, 2014)

Far Reaches features Mateo’s Presage (2005). Set to Polish composer Henryk Gorecki's soaring Symphony #3, it is a powerful and visually stunning dance that celebrates the majesty of the human spirit.  A favorite from one of Mr. Mateo’s popular Cuban-inspired concerts, Ayer Pasado (2004) meaning “The Day Before Yesterday”, unfolds to music by Manuel Samuel, a romantic composer considered the father of national Cuban music, and composer of 58 Contradanzas for piano. Crafted fresh from a three-month sabbatical, Mr. Mateo closes the fall season with the season’s first world premiere.
Press Night:  Friday, Oct. 17, 8:00 pm

Hailed by Boston Magazine as “Best of Boston Dance Performance 2011”, Mateo’s hallmark-style of presenting dance close-up makes dance personal and relevant to today’s audiences.
