Around 4pm, before the crowds began to assemble, the Street Lighting Department put their last minute perfecting touches on our Upham's Corner Holiday Tree.  They added more lights to the top to create a glowing pinnacle.

Residents from Upham's Corner and outlying sections of Dorchester arrived in friendly groups of two and three.  The atmosphere was casual and fun-loving.  Right on time, the santa trolley pulled up with gifts for the kids and a Santa or two inside.  Bright red Santa suits edged in brilliant white cotton were stuffed with human Santas trimmed in red hats or red capes (the Mrs.) and some sporting traditional white beards.  That's what makes the holiday cozy, comfy and nostalgic.

City folk (City Hall) and local folk and kids in strollers gathered 'round the tree.  Countdown - loud and clear - as the unadorned tree was set to come alive:  10 .. 9.. 8 .... 3..2..1  Lights.  Yay!!

And that was that.  If you got there five minutes late, you missed the entire event.  Still the lights glowing on the tree were wonderful to see even after the crowds dispersed.
