"Friends of Upham’s Corner" is a group of people
who care about Upham's Corner. It is a
collection of e-mail addresses (virtual people) and conversations all
about our
fair city -- ideas on how we can make our city prettier, cleaner, safer
and
more desirable.
"Friends" are people who "listen in" to the conversations about Upham's
Corner and who enjoy the conversation. This is a forum where you can
freely contribute your ideas, energy and actions without criticism. |
- Do you like brainstorming ideas, doing a little
research, delving into ideas more deeply, engaging in conversation?
- Do
you like solving problems, working with City of Boston resources,
taking stock of where we are now and measuring progress over time?
- Do you want to feel like you’ve made a
difference in Upham's Corner?
|
"Friends of Upham’s
Corner” does not take away from the
work of existing organizations, nor we do the job of the City of Boston
Other organizations may
be
looking at economic development or crime or grant writing.
"Friends of
Upham's Corner" has only one focus and that is on Upham's
Corner in whatever way we
choose to.

- What bugs you?
- What's missing?
- What would make you feel proud?
- If you were bragging about Upham's Corner
(could be something that isn't here yet), what would you say?
- What's here that you'd like to see go away?

Cities are groups of
people and houses and businesses and organizations. There are
many styles and trends and personal preferences. There is
room for all (almost).
Some existing features
really don't belong in a healthy city (like trash, drugs, loitering,
decay, etc). Some beautifying features need to be brought in.
What the group works on
is what catches the energy, drive and enthusiasm of its
members. Once that magic ball starts rolling, there's no
stopping us.
