Elderly Volunteer Property Tax Work-Off Program Offered by City of Boston
Senior homeowners may apply to work off their property taxes through volunteer activities for the City of Boston. This program falls under the aegis of the Assessing Department but is being promoted by the Mayor's Office of Neighborhood Services. Restrictions apply on age, income and legitimate home ownership. If you are a "senior homeowner," you may be able to work-off your property taxes through volunteer work with the City of Boston. Offered by the Assessing Department and administered by the Office of Neighborhood Services, this program requires the following:
- Age 60+ as of July 1st (7/1/14)
- Earning restricted - <$30k if single or <$45k if married
- Own and occupy home for last three years
- This must be your PRINCIPAL residence
