Andrade, Jr. was born on December 22, 1987 and passed away on
Wednesday, April 20, 2011. He had been murdered, fatally shot in the

Edmund Andrade, Jr. became victim #2 of six murdered in Upham's Corner in 2011.
His funeral mass was held at 10 AM, Thursday, April 28, 2011 at St.
Peter’s Catholic Church on Bowdoin Street in Dorchester.
Edmund’s mother, Tereza, sat in the front pew almost
inconsolable. As the soulful sounds of Creole chant filled the
congregational space, family members surrounding Tereza tried to keep

member told the Globe at Andrade’s funeral last year that Andrade was
known to have sold drugs.**
The murder greatly upset the Cape Verdean community so Rep. Carlos
Henriquez along with City of Boston Councilor, Ayanna Pressley,
scheduled a community meeting to discuss resident concerns.
The Cape Verdean Community turned out in large numbers (268) on April
21, 2011. Violence in the community and the potential loss of the

|UPDATE: DEATH INVESTIGATION AT THE CORNER OF WARE STREET AND TRULL STREET **|
On Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 1:08am, officers from District C-11
(Dorchester) responded to a radio call for shots fired near Ware Street
in Dorchester. Officers proceeded to the area of Ware Street and Trull
Street where they were flagged down by several individuals in front of
22 Trull Street.
Once there, officers observed a black non-Hispanic male, approximately
23 years-old, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was
transported to the Boston Medical Center where he was later pronounced
deceased as a result of his injuries. The victim has since been
identified as Edmund Andrade, 23, of Boston.
