DSNI Multicultural Festival Undaunted by the Threat of Rain

DSNI's (the Dudley Street Neighborhood Initiative)  Multicultural Festival was undaunted by the imminent threat of rain.  DSNI did a terrific job of preparing for precipitation with tents everywhere.  While the multicultural festival started at 12 noon, the day, though cloudy, was not rainy except for the periodic light shower that the attendees pretty much ignored.

Not until 4pm did the rain begin in earnest.  By then, the soccer games were over and the crowds were huddled inside the main tent watching Capoeira Angola which is a Brazilian martial art that combines elements of dance and music. It was created in Brazil mainly by descendants of African slaves with Brazilian native influences[citation needed], probably beginning in the 16th century. It is known by quick and complex moves, using mainly power, speed, and leverage for leg sweeps.

The attendance on Saturday, August 18, 2012 was excellent and everyone enjoyed themselves.  You can see from the photos below that the kids and youth (and, oh, yes, the relaxed adults) found the event a wonderful affair.
