Christmas with Bobby - 11th Annual
Peace Legacy Christmas Party
The
Bobby Mendes Peace Legacy
celebrated its 11th annual Christmas with
Bobby
on December 11, 2010 at the Strand Theatre.
Isaura Mendes
had worked with volunteers to wrap the hundreds of donated
presents
which were stored across the street at Pilgrim
Church.
Santa in full costume sat in the famous Santa Chair while
children of all ages
climbed aboard to whisper their wishes
and pose for photos.
The Peace Legacy provided displays as a
continuing effort
to promote Peace in Dorchester and beyond.
In
the back room a DJ played great dance music and the kids went
wild.
When the food was ready, the guests lined up for delicious Cape Verdean
food.
Just to make sure waiting for food was fun, a singing DJ
entertained with traditional Christmas songs. And wouldn't
ya know it,
the food ran out just as the line ended.
Perfect planning.
One at a time and blindfolded the kids got to
swing a bat at the hanging pinata.
Three swings and "You're out." Finally, it broke.
Never a dull moment. Peter McNallly performed
magic tricks,
sang Christmas songs and led the kids in freeze
dances.
Towards the end of the evening, every child received a gift
The finale was sharing a grand cake
commemorating Bobby Mendes.
Another truly successful Christmas with Bobby!
With contributions from Isaura, Hal, Linda and Shannon - Thanks... |
