Come Dance with the Boston Ballet!
The Boston Ballet and its many facets is proud to present an evening of dance at the Strand Theatre, April 11, 2014. The Company, Boston Ballet II, students from Boston Ballet School and students from Boston Ballet's Department of Education and Community Initiatives will all be participating. A direct result of the Company's mission to promote excellence in ballet and to grow the diversity of its audiences, this program is one night only and very affordable at $5.00.

The Strand Theatre program is an outgrowth of the Boston Ballet's mission to:
- Significantly advance ballet as an art form
- Enrich the cultural life of the community
- Create a heightened sense of excitement and reward for artistic expression
Featuring: Performances by Boston Ballet, Boston Ballet II, Boston Ballet School, Adaptive Dance, Taking Steps and Boys in Motion, this event is held in partnership with Boston Ballet, Dorchester's Strand Theater, the Mayor's Office of Arts, Tourism and Special Events and the Boston Public Schools.
Seating is by general admission only.
Keeping the Boston Ballet's Mission Fresh and Relevant
"An Evening of Dance at the Strand" reflects the Boston Ballet's exploratory approach to its mission. Not just a community event, the program is designed to expand the Company's understanding of the importance of ballet to the community at large.
The Boston Ballet is committed to bringing excellence to the art of ballet and to a growing audience through a process that is inclusive in scope and is both educational and creative. The Company periodically asking questions of itself and reviewing "how" the mission is being implemented helps keep the Boston Ballet's mission fresh and relevant.
Expand the relevance of ballet to the community

- Demonstrate a strong commitment to diversity within audience, students, artists and staff
- Include traditional audiences in its focus as well as working to develop new audiences
Explore educational challenges
- Teach the technical and artistic elements of dance, music and related arts

- Explore fresh interpretations in the context of what has come before
- Create new works and new choreographic voices
