Bird Street Community Center Celebrates 35 Years - May 7, 2013

The Bird Street Community Center will celebrate its 35th anniversary on May 7, 2013 at 6 PM as a center dedicated to inner-city youth. Hosted by Bill Forry, Managing Editor of the Dorchester Reporter, the even includes dinner, performances and testimonials from youth and alumni. Bird Street Youth Center Celebration

Bird Street Community Center turns 35

On May 7, 2013 at 6:00 pm, the board, staff, youth, volunteers, alumni and community will gather at Florian Hall, 55 Hallet Street in Dorchester to celebrate the youth center's 35th anniversary as a stand-alone, non-profit center dedicated to the inner city youth in our neighborhoods.

The Bird Street Center warmly invites everyone to attend: residents, former members, former board members, and stakeholders in the future of our youth.
  • Honor the organization's past, its current programs, services and members
  • Share in the organization's future goals to enhance the Center's youths
  • Celebrate the decade of service by retiring Executive Director Andrea Kaiser
Bill Forry, Managing Editor of The Dorchester Reporter, will host the event which will include:

  • Dinner
  • Performances & Exhibits: Bird Street's dance troupe, Sofizticationz, its fashion designers, and its glass blowers
  • Testimonials from our younger alumni - Members of the youth council will provide insight into their leadership activities this year
  • Recognition of some of Bird Street's membership going back 50 years
  • Reverend David Wright, of the Black Ministerial Alliance will speak in honor of our retiring Executive Director, Andrea Kaiser.
